Senior Care Chat — Help & Instructions

What is MayMay?

MayMay is a messaging app designed for families with senior members who speak a different language. Family members send messages in English; seniors receive them translated into their language with tap-to-reply buttons — no typing required.

Supported Languages

MayMay currently translates messages into: Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, French, Hindi, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Arabic, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, and Russian.

English is also available as a senior's language — not a translation, just for seniors who are comfortable with English but have a hard time typing. They still get the same tap-to-reply experience: preset messages and AI-suggested quick replies, no keyboard needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are messages kept?

You choose: 1, 7 (the default), 14, or 30 days, set per conversation from that conversation's menu (☰) under Message retention. Deletion isn't always exact — a message may occasionally stay visible for up to 3 extra days past the selected period.

Can a senior be connected to more than one family member?

Yes. Each family member generates their own pairing code. The senior enters each code to connect. Messages are kept in separate threads per family member.

Can a family member connect with more than one senior?

Yes. Tap Add person from the menu to create additional connections.

What if the pairing code expires?

Codes expire after 15 minutes. The family member can open that pending conversation and tap Get a new code — no need to start over. The same screen also has a Remove option to cancel the invitation instead.

How do I remove a connection?

Family members: tap the menu (☰), then Manage Chats, and tap Remove next to the conversation. Seniors: tap the menu (☰) and select Remove this chat. Removing is permanent — a new pairing code is needed to reconnect.

What do I do if my senior (or I) get a new device?

Seniors don't have an account to sign back into — their connection lives only on the device they paired from, by design (see the guide for why). If a senior gets a new phone, loses their old one, or has to reinstall MayMay, set them up again with a fresh pairing code the same way you did the first time. Their old conversation on the old device can't be transferred over. If you just got a new phone yourself and already sign in with Google or Apple, just sign in again — your conversations are tied to your account, not your device.

How do I delete my account?

Tap the menu (☰), select About, then Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all associated conversations.

The translation doesn't look right. What should I do?

Translation is performed automatically by AI and may occasionally be imperfect. If you notice a consistent issue, please contact us using the link below.
